Sitting in the Kingdom Hall as a young child, I would hear talks about sex, but they were, for the most part, warnings about what not to do—what was moral and what was not— but mostly not. Masturbation was wrong, mutual masturbation was wrong, and both oral and anal sex were wrong. So I promised myself that as soon I found out what the heck they were, I would never do them. As I grew up, I came to understand what sex is really all about, according to Watchtower teachings. I also heard from the platform and from people at the Hall how it was not good for a man to be alone; that he needed a wife to satisfy his sexual needs. I divorced my husband for spousal abuse at the age of twenty-two. All I knew was that men wanted and needed sex.

March 13, Darvin Jackson I was watching the rally in Dayton when the guy charged the podium and my heart stopped for a minute, I was thinking we were about to witness an RFK moment. Thank God for the secret service reacting as quickly as they did to shield Trump.

A friend of mine recently wrote this thoughtful update on his life1 and where he is at now that ten years has passed since he moved away and faded from the Witnesses. His mentally unstable JW ex-wife tried to get him DFed and sent out the elders to pursue him but they were unsuccessful.

May 23, at 1: As a side point, The Israelites were afflicted in Egypt for the predicted years — the Scriptures are accurate. The problem comes when you understand that Egyptians were not Historians as you know them today; rather, those who carved images into rock were hired to praise the Pharaohs and Egypt in their carvings. When I researched who was Pharaoh, by-name, at the time of Exodus , I found three different names from three different sources for the same Pharaoh s — I believe there was more than one Pharaoh in Exodus — Exodus 2: My supposition is that I will find more different names, with more ambiguous time periods applicable.

Egyptian History is entirely unreliable and highly questionable as to its accuracy. Affliction is ambiguous; many people today work jobs that they hate, so they are afflicted at their jobs, even if they are being paid.

I have a new job starting in San Antonio next Monday, but for now I’m just cooling my heels. I’ve been living in my sister’s house for a while, planning to move to an apartment in a couple of months. Anyway, this is build up to explain why I was enjoying a nice nap today after an exciting round of healing Heroic Oculus on my level 80 priest, when the doorbell rang.

I answered it and was confronted by a smiley woman in her forties or fifties, and a twenty-something middle eastern looking young woman.

This was a beautiful article and just what I needed at this point in my life. I just left the borg 1 year ago and have been single for 12 years since leaving my abusive witness husband.

His mentally unstable JW ex-wife tried to get him DFed and sent out the elders to pursue him but they were unsuccessful. I know this man personally and can say he is a friendly, caring, generous person. So anyway, here is how he is getting along in his own words: I reached that point at age 44 over 10 years ago after having been born and raised in the JW cult for 44 years.

It had nothing to do with being kind, good as a person, or helping brother or sister older ones giving food, care in their homes, or rides to the store. So think about it: How else can you explain men being appointed as elders who continue as such for years as they perform WT functions well at the kingdom hall, yet they may have beat their wives, children, molested children, or otherwise have been really scumbags in their personalities- yet got away with it for years?

HISTORY AND COMPARISONS OF MAJOR RELIGIONS

We have a pretty great relationship right now, we both care about each other and there are no major issues since it hasn’t been that long. I just want to mention that while she is a Jehovah’s witness, she is a pretty liberal one at that. She drinks, she will pretty much watch or read or play whatever, since she’s not uptight about that kind of stuff. She is really an all around awesome girl, and her religion is not really discussed at all unless i bring it up. There are things that I think may be an issue down the road however.

No birthdays, Christmas, or any other holidays All the other kids are doing fun Thanksgiving drawings of Turkeys by tracing their hands. That looks like so much fun! None—not even my birthday. God says birthdays are bad. Having to go door-to-door preaching every Saturday and sometimes Sunday as well I barely got any sleep when I was a Witness. I commuted an hour and a half to work each way and worked long hours. I needed the weekends to catch up on my sleep debt, but instead I had to get up at the crack of dawn to go out preaching.

The elders, on the other hand, do have access to your performance records. If your performance lags on the job, your invitations for dinner and movies suddenly stop. You are constantly judged by everyone else, especially the elders. No sex before marriage Nothing. At least the Mormons do that weird soaking thing.

She often recalled how as a young married woman, Dorrie, one of the Bible Students and a member of the , had called on her home. This delightful lady had interested her in Bible study as she answered questions that had long worried my mother, particularly in regard to her own parents, Bob and Alice Boyd. Bob Boyd had been a tall happy-go-lucky Irishman, but an atheist. Alice by contrast had been a tiny devout Presbyterian.

When Bob suddenly died at the age of 47, Alice sorrowfully told the children, including my mother, Effie, that he would now be tortured in the eternal flames of hell. When Alice was snatched away from her family in death five years later, they were sure that she was now looking down at them from heaven.

View Blog Jehovah’s Witnesses is a religion that preaches love and acceptance, but the reality is everything is conditional. Love and acceptance is only extended as long as members practice absolute obedience and question nothing, ever. One is that all the women will probably be wearing either skirts or dresses. Women are not, as a general rule, allowed to wear trousers of any sort during their meetings or when in the preaching work, and this includes business trousers or pantsuits.

As an example, when I was an active Witness I knew a woman who worked in a hospital and often could not leave in time to go home and change, and would occasionally arrive to the meetings in her hospital scrubs. However, a woman in pants would not be allowed to be on the platform for any type of public participation, and would also not be allowed in the preaching work. Also, if a woman continued to show up for meetings or preaching in pants without a good excuse such as mentioned above, she would probably be counseled in some way.

Jehovah’s Witnesses will emphatically point out that they do not consider women to be lesser creatures, and that God created male and female equal.

Judaism espouses belief in a monotheistic God, who is creator of the universe and who leads His people, the Jews, by speaking through prophets. His word is revealed in the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament , especially in that part known as the Torah. The Torah also contains, according to rabbinic tradition, a total of biblical commandments, including the Ten Commandments, which are explicated in the Talmud.

Jews believe that the human condition can be improved, that the letter and the spirit of the Torah must be followed, and that a Messiah will eventually bring the world to a state of paradise.

Jewish Atheist Still and all, why bother? Many people need desperately to receive this message: I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone. I argue with theists who are trying to convince me of their views online all the time, but it’s rare I come across one in real life other than old friends and family from Orthodox Judaism.

Half an hour ago, two very nice older ladies rang my doorbell, introduced themselves, told me that they were Jehovah’s Witnesses, and asked if they could talk to me about God. I smiled and said, “No thanks, I’m not interested. Do you think that humanity will be able to overcome all the problems that the world is facing today? I hope so,” I replied. In hindsight, I’m sure we won’t be able to overcome ALL of them.

I didn’t want to launch into a rant and I was trying to end the conversation, so I sort of choked. Then she gestures towards her companion and asks, “Well, if we find some literature that we think might be new to you, can we come back and give it to you? If I had wanted to get into it, I could have ranted about the immorality of refusing necessary blood transfusions for yourselves and your children, or about believing in a God that lets only , people out of 6 billion get into Heaven.

But I’m not here to argue with little old ladies that their entire worldview is fraudulent and immoral.

The flood wiped out the giants but shortly after the flood they returned and spread all throughout the Promised Land. As this article will show, not only did the giants return after the flood, they were major enemies of God and His chosen nation, Israel for centuries. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. This brief passage tells a very important origin story. And their children, half-human, half-angelic hybrids, were the Nephilim giants. The idea of angels sleeping with women and having kids is not something that all Christians agree upon, know about or even comfortable with. However, the truth of Christianity is based upon one source: And from a study of Scripture it becomes clear that this event did indeed happen.

This question is often raised initially as an objection to the idea that Nephilim giants ever even existed. And it was their fallen angelic parentage. But again, we must keep searching the Bible to make certain of meaning. The Bible is self-confirming and one passage of Scripture can always be confirmed by another.

Index to Bible Notes How to Witness to an Atheist The objective is to use the law to convict the conscience, as with any lost person. Nevertheless, most atheists are arrogant, with intellectual barriers that will keep them from hearing you out. By the way, there are no practical differences among atheists, agnostics, and deists. The atheist believes that there is no God. The deist believes that there was a creator God who set the universe into motion and then took a permanent vacation.

In all 3 cases, these individuals make themselves 1 in the universe, accountable to no personal God. I have learned to enjoy talking to the polite atheist more than talking to the religious lost. If a thoughtful atheist comes to believe in God as revealed in the Bible, he is very likely to act on that knowledge and be born again — like I was. The religious lost tend to have scattered, but incoherent knowledge about Christianity, are difficult to communicate with, and are not so likely to act on truth, even when it kicks them in the nose.

In fact, if someone brushes you off with an attitude, you might just guess at his atheism and say. Oh, an atheist, huh? If he is hanging around by this point, you may well be able to have a full-length conversation.
